We are pleased to announce the start of DRD scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans . Each year, the DRD Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans will award a limited number of DAAD merit scholarships to applicants from Sub-Saharan African countries who have an outstanding academic record and wish to pursue development-related Masters and PhD studies.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants are expected to meet with the below requirements:
- Candidates must come from a Sub-Sahara African country
- Candidates must possess an outstanding academic record – a minimum of 70% average for your last degree
- Candidate must come from an internationally recognized university
- previous degree should be an academic discipline related to Development Studies
- South African students are expected to have an honors degree in order to be admitted to a Master’s degree course.
- Candidates must show evidence of proficiency in English
- Work and/or voluntary experience in your field of interest would be a recommendation
- Interested Candidates should apply within 3 years of completing their previous degree
- This award program is open for both men and Women.
- South African students are encouraged to apply
- Candidates must be willing to study for a fulltime program at the UWC for the required period.

Please note that all applications are required to be submitted using the online application form. Submission of applications via hardcopy or email are not allowed. Benefit of DRD Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans 2021-22
For successful Master candidates, this Scholarship program includes a monthly stipend of €650 plus travel allowances, and for PhD applicants, it includes a monthly payment of €900 plus travel allowances. The Scholarship Program will also cover tuition and registration expenses.
