An Australian Research Council Discovery Project on unraveling the primary drivers of ion specificity is looking for a Ph.D. student having the equivalent of a First Class Honours or Master’s degree in physical chemistry, physics, or an equivalent subject.

This fascinating Ph.D. project brings together researchers from the ANU’s Research School of Physics, the University of Newcastle, and Flinders University. The student will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the disciplines of colloid and interface science, as well as soft condensed matter. They will take part in an experimental program to learn more about the fundamentals of ion-specific phenomena, such as how ions partition at surfaces. Ion-specific effects are common in soft matter systems, including biology, as well as a wide range of industry-relevant and commercial fluids, thus a better knowledge of the fundamentals will have a big influence.

Deadline: Applications will be held open until the position is filled.
