Sheffield Hallam University Ph.D. Scholarships are open to apply.

Ph.D. applicants with a strong interest in materials science, engineering, physics, and/or chemistry as related to energy and the environment are invited to apply. This initiative is linked to the famous EPSRC Transforming Foundation Industries Research Hub (TransFIRE), which will collaborate with UK Foundation Industries (glass, ceramics, metals, cement, paper, and bulk chemicals) to reduce energy and CO2 emissions. Working with our project partners will provide the student the opportunity to obtain significant industry experience. Sheffield Hallam University Ph.D. Scholarships are being offered for competent students.

Within MERI, the student will join Prof. Bingham’s big and active research group and will have the opportunity to work in a fun multi-disciplinary setting. The student will be assisted in their personal and professional development, with chances to present findings at conferences and participate in external collaborations with Hub partners as well as larger UK, European, and worldwide collaborators and partners.

The Materials and Engineering Research Institute (MERI) is a dynamic multidisciplinary research institute that is committed to solving industry issues via the application of fundamental science and engineering. It is part of the larger Industry and Innovation Research Institute (I2RI).

Benefits of Sheffield Hallam University Ph.D. Scholarships

The fellowship grants tuition fees at home fee levels and a maintenance amount at the UK Research Councils’ national minimum doctoral stipend rate (£15609 for 2021/22). The award is available for three years of full-time.
